British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital follows the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
