The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards were hosted on Thursday, and through an impressive display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. The breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive secured the esteemed Top Game award, along with prizes for Outstanding Narrative and Excellence in Visuals.
Adding to the developer's triumph, the gifted actors also received personal awards. Jennifer English was named Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Performer for his work as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Studio of the Year. Overall, Clair Obscur and its developers won seven awards throughout the ceremony.
Other standout winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which received Outstanding Audio and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Outstanding Independent Game and PC Game of the Year. It is important to note, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the audience, with only 4 categories—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamers' Favorite—judged by experts.
