Donald Donald Trump has declared he is increasing import taxes on goods imported from Canada after the region of Ontario ran an anti-import tax ad using former President Ronald Reagan.

In a social media message on Saturday, the President called the advert a "deception" and condemned Canadian authorities for not taking down it ahead of the MLB finals.

"Because of their major distortion of the truth, and aggressive move, I am hiking the Tariff on Canadian goods by ten percent in addition to what they are currently paying now," he stated.

Subsequent to Donald Trump on Thursday withdrew from commercial discussions with Canada, the Ontario's leader stated he would remove the advert.

The Province Reaction

Ontario Leader Ford said on Friday that he would pause his province's anti-import tax ad campaign in the America, informing the media that he chose after consultations with PM the Canadian PM "so that commercial discussions can resume".

He also said it would remain broadcast on Saturday and Sunday, during matches for the World Series, which includes the Toronto Blue Jays against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Commercial Situation

Canada is the sole G7 nation state that has not secured a agreement with the United States since Trump started seeking to levy high import taxes on goods from major commercial allies.

The America has already applied a thirty-five percent tax on every Canadian items - though many are exempt under an present commercial pact. It has also applied targeted duties on Canadian items, including a fifty percent duty on metal products and 25% on vehicles.

In his update, posted while he was traveling to Malaysia, the President indicated he was adding 10 percent to those taxes.

Three-quarters of Canadian overseas sales are sent to the United States, and the province is host to the largest share of the nation's car production.

Ronald Reagan Commercial Information

The advert, which was sponsored by the Ontario authorities, references former US President Ronald Reagan, a conservative icon and symbol of US conservatism, stating import taxes "harm American citizens".

The commercial includes segments from a 1987-era national radio address that addressed foreign trade.

The Reagan Foundation, which is responsible for preserving the ex-president's memory, had criticised the advert for using "edited" audio and video and stated it misrepresented Reagan's speech. It also said the Ontario authorities had not sought consent to use it.

Current Disputes

In his post on Truth Social on the weekend, Trump claimed that the advert should have been pulled down before.

"Their Advertisement was to be taken down IMMEDIATELY, but they allowed it to air recently during the World Series, aware that it was a FRAUD," Trump stated, while flying to Asia.

Doug Ford had earlier pledged to broadcast the Reagan advertisement in every Republican-led district in the America.

Each of Trump and Mark Carney will be participating in the Southeast Asian summit in Southeast Asia, but Trump advised journalists joining him on the presidential plane that he does not have any "desire" of speaking with his Canada's leader during the visit.

In his update, Trump further accused the Canadian government of seeking to affect an forthcoming Supreme Court lawsuit which could halt his whole tariff regime.

The case, to be considered by the highest US court in the coming weeks, will determine whether the import taxes are lawful.

On last Thursday, Donald Trump also lashed out, saying that the commercial was intended to "tamper" with "THE MOST IMPORTANT CASE EVER"

MLB Finals Association

The advertisement is not the sole way that the region – base of the Blue Jays – is using the baseball championship as a stage to criticize Trump's tariffs.

In a recording shared on last Friday, the Premier and Gavin Newsom Gavin Newsom humorously made bets about which club would triumph the series.

Each official consistently joked about import taxes in the clip, with Doug Ford promising to send the Governor a container of Canadian syrup if the LA Dodgers triumph.

"The duty might charge me a additional dollars at the border nowadays, but it'll be worth it," Ford said.

In reply, Governor Newsom suggested the Premier to continue enabling American drinks to be marketed in province beverage outlets, and promised to deliver "the state's top-quality vino" if the Toronto team succeed.

They finished their dialogue together declaring: "To a great MLB finals, and a tariff-free alliance between the province and the state."
