Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the pair.
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt ready to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has gone by that I can at last express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began spending more time together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, remarking that he doesn't recollect "any day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
In a distinct piece, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to prevent the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a official listing noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Following the deaths, public personalities offered varying responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making provocative claims that were met with immediate backlash by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they demonstrated a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an aide ought to have stepped in when the decision to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
